In 2008, in the midst of a thriving pharmaceutical sales career, I fulfilled a life long dream of writing my first novel. It was The Revelation Voyage, a faith-based science fiction novel set in the future. It was based on the premise that political correctness had gone completely crazy and a group of believers wanted to leave the planet to find a new home where they could worship freely. Little did they know there was a saboteur on board. The book climaxed by answering the question, “What do you do with this person who wanted to kill you”, from a Christian point-of-view.

Since that book, I have published 2 nonfiction works as well as a murder mystery series. The mystery series takes up much of my time these days. There are three books published in that series as of the spring of 2025. I have two additional volumes in that series currently in progress. I get a lot of questions surrounding those works, some of which speak to the violence in the work. I have heard such questions as, “Rodney, where do you get this stuff”, or comments such as, “Rodney, that’s some sick s…!” But I admit that I love hearing people’s comments on my work, even if it is to question my sanity a bit. The truth is that I have a very vivid and active imagination.

The two nonfiction works come from places in my career where I sensed a need, either in myself or in the marketplace. One book is on Sales and is basically about simplifying the sales process. The other is a motivational book about quitting the things that tend to hold us back. However, before you run out looking for a how-to book to help you quit smoking, it is actually about attitude. It is about changing the attitudes we have that keep us from success. But it is also full of a number of stories about successful people who failed at first, then kept on working to become what they are today.

Interestingly enough, it is one of the stories from that motivational work that gave me the courage to start writing full time. I won’t spoil it for you. But suffice it to say, there is absolutely no reason why we shouldn’t go after our dreams with all our heart and soul and mind. I believe that unflinchingly. Sometimes we just have to take a leap of faith.

Oh, and did I mention that I love writing science fiction? That’s where my real heart lies. I currently have plans for at least three or four additional science fiction books, with several chapters already written of several. Be on the lookout for more information about that.
