Recently, I was asked about one of my books, The Revelation Voyage. The person asking was curious as to why I would write a book like that. He is one of those readers who feels like politics and religion should never mix and that I must have had an agenda for writing the book. Interestingly enough, I did have an agenda. But it was not the agenda he believed.

I first started writing The Revelation Voyage in 2006, and finally finished it in 2008. It truly was a labor of love. The reason I say that is because the reason I wrote that book had nothing to do with most writer’s reasons for writing what they write. At the time I was working in pharmaceutical sales and was traveling ten or more days every month. When I was in hotels, I wanted to read but I could never find the kind of books I wanted to read. I was looking for science fiction works that were at least compatible with my faith. There was nothing out there even close.

So, I decided to write one myself. It had been a life long dream to write books anyway. I loved reading, loved writing, and had planned to write something eventually. I guess you could say it was the perfect storm for me to write it. It took about a year for me to complete the writing as I did most of my writing by hand during my lunch hour. Once I got home, I would use my typing time as the opportunity to edit.

To this day I am very proud of that book. One of the aspects that I enjoy about writing science fiction is that if you can imagine it you can write about it. No matter how far fetched a concept seems in real life it is often perfectly acceptable for science fiction, as long as it obeys the laws of physics and science for the most part. But often, the more outlandish a concept the better it is accepted.

Originally, that book was meant to be a three book series. I am about halfway complete with the second in the series. As I always tell my friends, the beginning and the ending are easy for me. It is the middle act that is always tough. So, I guess I can say, Coming Soon: The Revelation Planet.

All the best!
